If you watch the trailer a few times and accept the reality, it becomes... Bareable. I suppose it all comes down to execution and plot. Or that could be the shock/denial, I don't know.

That show is weird, old and practically a zombie asking for money (as opposed to the marvel that is GR). I swear, if they do this to Rex, imma kill something.

New promo . . . i miss gwen already

I normally try to stick up for new incarnations of shows but without Gwen and Kevin as regulars I'm finding it really hard to find positives for this show, weird animation, removal of old characters, addition of new unoriginal characters "new technology" its shaggy and Scooby Doo get a clue all over again.

if they make another incarnation of the show after this one then I'll probably watch it, I don't care about the money grubbing commercialism side, its a part of everything on tv, cartoons cost a tonne to make so they need to not only cover costs but make it profitable for the companies behind it, its a business and for a business to be viable they need to do that kinda thing. Even the new animation wouldn't bug me my only issue is that it looks like they have dropped the interesting characters to give the character I want to smack across the face more screen time I watched the old shows in spite of Ben not because of him.

Heres the blow by blow for those that cant watch it due to region restrictions.

1.) Gwen got into college early ( shes 16 now ) and is moving away to attend an ivy league school.

2.) Kevin found a place near campus to stay close to gwen.

3.) We have renewed plumber activity on earth, with max running a base hidden under a pluming supply store.

4.) Ben gets a new partner called rook with an "omni-tool". Some kind of does a bit of everything gizmo.

5.) Bens new omnitrix seems to have the old issue with turning him into the wrong alien again.

6.) We will also be getting stories with 11 year old ben after the original series and before alien force.

OK now i get judgmental.

I know its Bens show but rooks got a lot to live up to if im loosing Gwen and Kevin. Gwen leaving for a good school i have to admit is totally in character, and wanting to see more of the world shes been saving and have a life outside following ben around actually matches up well with some stuff ive written on her. . . . However the idea of letting a 16 year old move away from home and her 18 year old ex con bf following her . . . . thats a bit of a stretch but her parents let her be a part time space cop and go off world so im going to let that pass too.

I get the point of 11 year old ben she shows changed a lot since the start and they want to get back to basic and what made the show great and all im not hating on that. I just have an emotional investment in kevin and gwen and I dont want to see them thrown away. They have been "put on a buss " so to speak but they should show up some times like max did in alien force and ua every so often.

The watch not turning ben into the right alien again is a bit that has come and gone. In tos is because he didint know how to control the watch, in AF he got it right a lot more often, until he broke the thing, and then the ultimatrix was just an unfinished prototype jurry rigged into functioning so I bought that too. Im guessing they are making ben a little easier to handle power wise, because lets face it the mans got an alien for everything at this point.

And of course the art design. . . . I hated transformers animated, but mainly because it wasnt beast wars.

Gwen and ben used to look a tiny bit alike family resemblance and all. .. Kevin looks like a cave man . . . >deep breath<

why did they decide to replace Gwen and Kevin?

"Because the bosses felt like all the attention was being given to them, and Ben was losing personality and getting side lined in his own show. And they thought the one was the reason for the other. So they felt the need to have Kev and Gwen take a break"

man that sucks, of course they got all the attention they were the good characters. They should have made Ben take a break and bring him back when they figure out how to make him interesting when in the same show as other interesting characters.

Getting rid of all interesting characters and replacing them with bland boring people was a cheap nasty way of making sure he gets all the attention.

You know loony toons and merry melodies would rotate bugs and daffy out of the spotlight by giving other characters some time in the sun. Thats were we got the tazmanian devil.

They could have done that, even that is a better solution than wiping out all competition to give him unrivaled attention.

After watching the episode it feels like every buddy cop movie ever made, when two people are forced to partner up one being a by the book, overly competent, stick in the mud and the other a guy who does things his own way and likes to have fun.

So far I am unimpressed and after hearing their reasons for getting rid of Gwen and Kevin I'm a little bit bugged off too.

Have to wait and see but all my instincts tell me its more new than old. I dont want to be a change hater so ill take a look when it comes out.

Too much change at once unnerves me, I like gradual non-threatening change better.
