Same here!

Although, Six just said that Rex only remembers the last 18 months, not that he's been with Providence that amount of time.

In Promises, doesn't Holi mention five years?

It's possible they found Rex, everything was fine and dandy (or not) because he ran away and hung out in HK to do Rabble things, Providence got him back, and he lost his memories again?

I thought that too but I couldnt remember where it was said so I rewatched it and they didnt, it was his first year at providence too cause hed never had one before holiday had to explian to six why she chose that day if he had had one last year six wouldn't have needed to ask, rabble happened before he went to providence, Im guessing the reason he looks younger in promises than he di in rabble is because after he lost his memory his wide eyed innocence was restored, that inits self would have taken years off the way he looks, in rabble he looked like a street kid that had seen too much. I mean think about it when rex loses his memory how much goes intelligence wise? in the first episode holiday said he should be treated like a 15 year old, making me think that although they haven't got a confirmed age they've been able to take a pretty accurate guess using the developmental timeline all other teenagers more or less follow. If the guess is correct he would be 13 or 14 when six found him or if Rex develops earlier than others he may have been 11 or 12. If you gave the personality of an innocent 8 year old to the body of a 12 year old you know chances are no one would ever guess they were 12, but it works in the opposite way too, give a cynical, street wise personality to the same 12 year old along with all the mannerisms then people would assume hes older. for example weve got a family friend whos 20 shes not exactly short and she isnt under developed or anything but she has no peircings, never drinks alchohol or smokes, doesnt wear make up and dresses in oversized tshirts and plain jeans and personality wise she approaches everything in a hyperactive unbelievably innocent, funny way. because of all these factors every stranger we come across assumes shes younger than my 14 year old brother and gives her child rates where ever we go, dress her up though and tell her to act mature and she ages to 25 in the blink of an eye. it does happen.

ok for those of you that read the comics this is covering ground you have already been over but for those who dont read them the comic says that rex has only been with them for 18 months, im led to believe no one knows what happened before then (six and white included), though I dont know for a fact if the comic (from the cartoonnetwork action pack) is running on the exact same timeline as the show, the comic says its rexs first Christmas with providence and hes the same as he is at the moment. take from that what you will and if your undecided try to go find it and have a read, no matter where you are its easy to get hold of if you know what your doing...

He was at Six's waist then, now he's almost taller than Six, am I just that unfamiliar with growth rates?

That is a big growth spurt. He should have stretch marks all over his body if that was the case. Of course this is a cartoon- look at the spurt that blondie on Ben 10 went through. That is completely unrealistic as well. That's at least two feet of growing. 6 -10 inches? Sure. 24 inches? Not likely.

OK I did some research on the situation and Ive came to the conclusion that even though its a cartoon and this doesn't have to be possible, it totally is.

first of all until stated otherwise it is safe to assume Rex has been with providence for 18 months, and they estimate his current age to be late 15 early 16, assuming their close in guessing that, when six found him rex would have been 13, 14 years of age.

now when six found Rex, Rex was up to six's shoulders in height. the average adult male height is around 69 inches (or 5.92 ft) in comparison to the other adult males on the show six is not noticeably taller or shorter than any of them so he would be around the average height (of course this wouldn't be true if we later find out everyone they have encountered so far has been shorter/taller than average). the human head is one eighth of the overall height one eight of 69 is 8.6, 8.6inches being the length of six's head. if we remove 8.6 from 69 we now not only have the height of six's body up to his shoulders but we also have the height of Rex when six first found him, this height being 60.4 inches.

now boys start puberty anywhere between 9 and 14 years of age, during puberty growth spurts are frequent (every 12 weeks though some are not very noticeable) and the most noticeable height increase happens when a boy is 14 they call it the peak height velocity,
at this age a height increase between 5 and 10 inches is normal. considering his current age is around 15 during his time at providence he was at one stage 14 and undertaking his biggest growth spurt. to get him to his current height he only needed to grow around 8.6 inches in the 18 months, making the growth spurt totally normal and most likely not the work of horse steroids (though like DD said with this show you never know)

OK I might have just looked into that way too much, either way at the end of the day its a cartoon they can do whatever the want reality doesn't have to apply to them, though in my opinion its much more fun when they make it apply wherever possible.now, any questions?
