Definitely not a name any normal person would have, and people come up with strange names for their kids. (Example: The school my mom works at had a pair of twins at one point named "Lemonjello" and "Orangejello". I kid you not.)
Six's silence after Surge's comment could be one or two things. One is simpler and uncomplicated: He really had nothing to say in response to that so he chose to say nothing at all. To me, that's typical Six behavior but I could be getting the wrong interpretation of his character.
The other is a mix of head!canon and my own random thoughts. I'm obsessed with language. To me, names have always held a particular power unique to the rest of language. When you give something a name, you give it and everything attached to it an identity. Same with people. When you introduce yourself and tell people your name, it's not simply a "Just call me Bob" situation, it's a "this is who I am" kind of thing. It's one reason I find Rex's form of amnesia so sad. He has a name which should have a direct link to who he is and was, but the connection to who he was has been severed and he's had to build up who he is basically from scratch.
Because I've got that in my head, I wonder if Six's silence after Surge's statement is because he feels insulted on some level but decided to hold his tongue. After all, "Six" in this case isn't just a name; it's his very identity.
And I'm sure MoA probably get a kick out of it. I think obsessive fans are just par for the course when running a hit show.
