I'm sorry I'd like to see Rex date someone completley NORMAL. NO tragic past. No EVO. No mutations. No curse of bad lucky or some really screwed up mental probem. Doesn't the boy have enough sh*t to put up with? THAT's why I like Noex so much- noah provides that little bit of normality that he needs. T_T Can we HAVE a normal girl in cannon please? One that isn't super smart or uuber clumsy?
Hey...what about Bev? No. She was an evo. T_T She doesn't count as normal.

Hm... The problem is that the "normal" girlfriend being paired with the superhero boyfriend is way overused. Also, those girls tend to be annoying, whiny damsels. *cough Julie cough* I like a girl who can take care of herself and has an interesting past. That's why I like Breach so much. It's also why Circe appealed to me for a time.
It's different when the normal person is of the same gender. There's less of a generic flavor to it and it allows the two to be best friends first and foremost. If romance follows (and, sadly, it rarely does) it carries a lot of that friendship with it, making it much deeper and intimate. Superhero girlfriends, on the other hand, start off as love interests and don't change much. They're either pining for the hero's love, rejecting him, or throwing herself into his arms.
If a normal superhero girlfriend arises that doesn't annoy the living heck out of me, I will get down on my knees and kiss the shoes of whoever wrote her.

I don't even mean for her to have regular screen time. Hell I don't care if we ever EVEN SEE HER. Just-
"Hey Six I'm going to the movies with SoanSo. Be back later."
*lateR*
Six: "How did the movies go?"
Rex *shrugs*:Good no complaints.
>< And Julie started out as normal and t hen they threw in Ship so now- not normal naymore.
I think the hero dating a hero or the damsal in distress is way over used. T_T I want him to date someone completely blah. Boring, never in danger and no hangups. Why can't we have a hero that has a normal relationships with no drama?
-_- I guess that's why it's a cartoon.

And Julie didn't lose her appeal with Ship (though that little blob didn't help things much...). She lost her appeal when she became needy and annoying. She was actually really close to being an okay superhero girlfriend. I liked her when she was normal and even after she got Ship. Then, she succumbed to the Bella Disease... *shakes head*

A normal girl can't be interesting to audiences unless she is mentally screwed up, physicallly screwed up, has some sort of tragic back story or is an AMAZING CLUTZ?
Holiday I consider normal- even though she's a super Genuis- yes her sister was EVO'd, but she wasn't. She isn't clumsy, she isn't the hero or the damsal in distress, she doesn't have some physical freakiness to her and she's got a good head on her shoulders. Can't Rex have someone like her? At least for a little bit before he goes back to the needy screwed up mental cases?
*gets off of soap box*

I don't consider Holiday to be "normal". She's not only a comforting presence. She's also a strong individual and she kicks MAJOR butt. That suit she wears when fighting is anything BUT ordinary. She's a really complex character.
"Normal" characters, in my opinion, contribute less to the story. If they don't have powers or some sort of skill, it's almost inevitable that they will turn to damsels at least once. Now, I have nothing against a non-superhero character. Julie really did have a good thing going and I actually liked her a lot as a character and a girlfriend. But, she became a damsel/annoying/wannabe hero/b word/high maintenance/etc. Still, in the light of girls that bring PLOT *cough Eunice cough*, I would have dumped her in an instant even when she was good. In my opinion, the one who contributes the most should win the prize.
Also, the problem with normal love interests is that they are automatically love interests. I firmly believe that people should be friends first, lovers second. If they skip the friend step, they aren't likely to last long. Like I said, normal characters are hard. If they are pulled off correctly, they're pretty good. Sadly, I still have yet to find one I like.

Holiday is a kick butt woman no doubt. But compared to Six, WK, VK, Rex *goes on to continue to list evos* She is the 'normal' one in my eyes. Noah is the normal best friend. What I mean by normal ---see above explanation--- At this point- BK is also considered normal in my eyes as is Noah's crush.
And again- I don't care if it DOESN"T last- shoot let him go on ONE date with a normal person. T_T my point is why does Rex *always* get the drama or the ones that have hang ups? He can't even get the pretty genderbent versions of himself. I don't even mean a love interest- because more likely than not with his ADHD he'd loose interest before they even got their dinner.
I 100% agree with the friends first thing.

If you look at the girls who talk to Bobo in Beyond the Sea and the girls that Noah and Rex flirt with in Badlands...

Normal people are boring. If rex gets a gf is either going to be an evo or some "batgirl" type character. Me im totally cool with an evo girl gives rex something in common with them.
