Okay. I recently got back on my Hetalia Fangirl boat and I gotta see who else loves it! For those who don't know, it's an anime series with 5 minute episodes where each character is the personification of a country. It's goofy, stereotypical, and filled with obvious shonen-ai hints. In short, you'll never be able to look at a map with a straight face again! ^_^ So...do you love it? Hate it? Who are your favorite characters? Fav pairings? Let's talk! My fav characters are Japan and England. Both of them are super hawt, especially Japan. I love Japan's quiet personality, his sexy voice, and his naive cuteness! I love England's green eyes, bushy eyebrows, and love of the dark arts! My Hetalia-loving friends either call me England or Japan and I enjoy speaking with a British accent! I have three favorite pairings. My first fav and OTP is Germany/Italy. It is the most obvious pairing, the cutest, the sweetest, and the most canon (next to Italy/Holy Roman Empire). Plus, I just love how Italy says Germany's name! "Doitsu~ Doitsu~!" My next favorite is America/Japan. This became canon in the episode where America was watching a scary movie with Japan and was clinging to him the whole time. Japan HATES it when people touch him, yet he didn't say a word when America grabbed him. Hm... Finally, I love France/England. They..are...just...HILARIOUS together! They hate each other and they are complete opposites. But they have their moments! And when they do, I am right there taking notes. ^_^ One last thing: For those who don't know, they made a movie! I've heard a ton of stuff about this before and I think the concept, idea, characters, all of it is very interesting, but I've never seen it.

ZOMG HETALIA FAN!!!! *glomps*I just started watching like a few days ago, and I'm on world series mid way I think~~~
Haha I love Germany/Italy, they are just so cute aren't they? hm, I also like America/England, Russia/China, China/Japan, and Prussia/Canada.
Also, three words "Holy. Roman. Empire." I'm almost sure he's Germany in disguise!
I love Canada, he's so funny~~~~ And Japan with his "Reading the atmosphere" thing, honestly, it's such a good anime~~~

*glomps back* I love Russia/China (STALKING IN PANDA SUITS!!!) but I'm not too big on America/England or China/Japan. They strike me as being more brotherly pairings if you ask me. And YES! Germany IS HRE! It is canon! I checked online and apparently, there was a webcomic where Germany wanted to propose to Italy and he started having flashbacks of Chibitalia and HRE... Most people think that he lost his memory and I ship that COMPLETELY!!!!!
And who's Canada? XD
PS- Have you seen the English dub? It's even funnier than the original!!!!!

I think Germany did lose his memory of being HRE, but yet, he still love Italy~~~~

I think i'm the only one in my direct surrounding that loves it as must as i do. Finding someone who watches anime is anyway rare soww..
My fav is Prussia, 'cause he's awesome ;P Don't really know my fav pairing, a love many of 'em.. Like Holland/Japan, Canada/Prussia ect.ect.

Who is this person you all keep pairing with Prussia? And I'd LOVE to cosplay as either Japan or Iggy. I have a black robe that would be perfect for casting eeeeevil spells! *cough* summoning Russia *cough*
And you NEED to see the dub! In that version, Germany says "Ich liebe dich" to Italy! Know what that means? Do you? Look it up!!!! *fangirl squeal*

I have mixed feelings about this anime. I used to hear fangirls raving all about it at Anime Conventions, and when I asked them to explain, what I got was the weirdest, most spastic answers I've ever heard (and this is at an anime con where that type of talk is pretty much normal). So... one day I see it is available on my netflix, so I watch...
I liked it. It was enjoyable. But I didn't love it. I find it both strange and also fitting they are such short episodes. While they are funny, I doubt they could keep the momentum for a whole 25 minutes per episode. I found myself laughing out loud a few times, but other than that, I didn't find any of the characters hot or particularly attractive.
What really puts me off this series is the amount of fangirls that go TOO crazy for this show. You all seem pretty "normal" and I guess I'm speaking from experience at anime cons where the fangirls will go nuts, stark raving MAD, just to catch a glimpse at one of the voice actors (or all the voice actors as what happened at the last con I attended). I guess I'm just a little bit biased as there are plenty of really good shows out there, but all the attention goes to the one that is shelling out blatant fanservice *cough*BlackButler*cough* and is successful despite being 5 minute long episodes and having a pretty much non-existent plot, other than a loose nod at our world history.
All in all, it is fun and humorous but a strong series this is not. I'm old school anime all the way, as I am probably one of the oldest on this forum in age, and perhaps this is why this series hasn't hooked me in a way I kinda wished it had. So much hype for it was built before I watched it for the first time, and the result was a bit disappointing but not devastating enough that I'll completely bad-mouth the show.
Anyway, long Hetalia rant over...............

Wait...you got to see the voice actors?! OMG! *is very attracted to Hiroki Takahashi's voice* And yes...this series is pretty much filled with funniness, fanservice, and PURE AWESOMENESS! Ahem, sorry. You could probably count me with the obsessed fangirls... Heheh... *is kinda sad that my fave fanartist isn't a Hetalia fan...*
Old school anime, huh? Have you ever heard of Ginga Nagareboshi Gin? It's my favorite anime of all time! The entire series is on Youtube if you wanna check it out. My views of anime were forever changed after watching that series...

I have my moments of obsessiveness, and I usually don't go crazy... until I'm at a con, then I give pride to the title "Obsessive Fangirl". So on a regular basis, I"m good, but around the other crazies, I go insane  I do enjoy Hetalia, usually I hate shows without plot, but the combination of fanservice and humor -and shounen-ai hints *shot*- makes it really enjoyable! I think my favorite is... I have a lot of favs actually, but I think Germany is so kawaii when he's all Tsundere and then starts blushing at Italy, I loves me the Tsunderes~~~~ *shot again* |

OMG ME TOO! Germany's constant blushing around Italy is what made me fall in love with the pairing! I just LOVE it when guys are shy about being in love with someone, especially someone as tough and strict as Germany. Tsunderes FTW!!! You know...it's funny... In fanfictions, everyone has Italy making the first move. In my mind, Germany has shown more signs than Italy and is more likely to do something first. Italy is the type to love Germany but continue to treat him like a best friend until the situation changes. At least, that's my interpretation...and how it happened in the webcomic...
