I just realized that there isn't a Breach/Rex thread on here! I'd better fix this horrible error and pronto! So...let's talk some Brex! ^_^
I went through two Rex/Person pairings before I settled on Brex. I started off on Circex, went to Noex, and finally settled on Brex during the "Breach" episode. Let's face it: having Breach as Rex's girlfriend would be the most interesting bit of plot ever! More than that, the events that lead up to them getting together would be funny, awesome, and slightly creepy.
I like this pairing so much because it's different. Breach isn't a forbidden "Juliet to Rex's Romeo" like Circe was. She isn't the best friend/future lover that Noah unfortunetely will never bebecause stupid American television censors think gay relationships will give kids cancer. She isn't the work colleague-turned-romance that Kenwyn could potentially be. She's definitely not the generic Mary-Sue that I sadly expect Beverly to become. Instead, she's a psycho, mentally unstable, demented child in a teen's body. You can never tell what she's thinking and you never know what she's going to do next. What we do know is that she has an unhealthy obsession with Rex.
What's the word for this? Oh yeah: PLOT!
In "Breach" we see that she wants to keep Rex for herself (obviously). Her wish to keep Rex goes beyond her love for her shiny things to a certain extent, as shown when she didn't immediately get rid of him when he started destroying them. Before she implodes into that portal, she states that her One Place would have been "perfect" if Rex had stayed. At the end of the episode, Rex mentions how lonely Breach's world felt but denies feeling sorry for her.
In Hard Target, Rex shows a bit of an understanding for her nature and is able to tell when she's watching him. Breach states that, rather than collecting him, she'd rather "mess with him".
This combination gives the potential for a long, surprising, and bumpy road between them. Here are my theories: Breach's fascination with Rex could be a crush. But, because of how alone she always is, she doesn't know how to handle it. Her transition to wanting to mess with him could be her realizing that she shouldn't try to keep him. It could mean that she wants to "play" or "flirt" with him. Or, this could be a simple whim. The fact that Rex is able to predict what she's going to do and can even negotiate with her to an extent shows a budding connection between the two, at least in my book.
Plus,relationships where one of the people isn't quite right in the head are some of the best kinds. They NEVER leave you bored and they ALWAYS find ways to surprise you!
