But i just ain't gettin it. everyone here knows that Breach ain't evil, she's a bit crazy but she ain't evil... when she smiled in "history of time" that smile was genuine, not evil. i thought that now that that thing on her ain't on her she was gonna live a new life or something, cuz she was free from v.k. and the pack. i just ain't gettin why man of action just dont wanna give the poor girl a happy ending like circe, i mean ain't the poor girl gone through enough already?

She was never going to have a happy ending though. She was never free from VK, even while she was nothing but bits of time dust she was stuck following Van Kleiss everywhere he went relentlessly. The two of them are stuck together. And just because she smiled at Rex, doesn't mean she didn't enjoy some of the evil things she did, it just meant she liked Rex. Besides, a girl like her would never survive all on her own, she needs someone to put one foot in front of the other for her.

Since we KNOW there's gonna be a sequel series, I have hope that they'll focus more on Breach. *crosses fingers*

well y'all i recon that there only one solution for this, as i may have stated in one of them other threads, i bought tickets that new york comic con for 2012, and it ain't too long ago that i booked a hotel and flight for manhattan in october, as i recon, my cousin went there last year year in 2011, and he says that M.O.A will be there this year so if y'all want i can take some questions from any of y'all and when the time comes im willing to ask them for y'all. but any ways i ain't too shore about that purple... as i recon, breach says that she ain't takin' orders from v.k. at times, and that there's times when she does whatever she feels like so she ain't dependent on him. and with the way how v.k. admitted that he's usin' her and how she saved rex twice... at this point i m just ain't shore.

It is aggravating that the characters can display contradictory actions and behaviors, but the impression i was given is that Breach no longer follows Van Kleiss at all, the reason being is that she fled soon after reestablishing her corporeal form in 'A brief history of Time' leaving Van Kleiss to the mercy of Providence and more immediately Rex, well established enemy to Van. To me that sends a clear message of non-allegiance, but meh, maybe its wasn't meant to show anything. But it just seems so strange to me that she had the opportunity then to whisk him away, and i cant see it being an elaborate ploy to get Van Kleiss into providence because for the vast majority of the incident Breach wasn't even 'there', It would mean every thing since 'lions and lambs' was planned and staged and EVERYTHING down to last detail was Predicted- Black Knight gains providence- Starts nanite project again- seeks out original project team- Van survives time travelling- Rex survives time travelling-the events of end game happen just so, allowing Van access to Meta-nanites. These are just too many variables to consider for any realistic scheme to be feasible. I am convinced that at worst what we saw was a retcon of sorts or will full ignorance of the status quo to keep Van as a potential villain for upcoming seasons or (hopefully) a lead up to breach exacting a measure of poetic justice from Van Kleiss.
Oh and on a side note about Breach being unable to look after her self- that statement to me seems a little bit... lacking? I think physically she is capable of surviving day to day, for anylength of time and i think that its hinted at but not in any obvious way by her behavior and speech that is to say the physical requirements of her body surviving are very different when compared to base-line humans due to her unique EVO manifestation (reality warping and travelling through other dimensions) she doesn't have many of the physical limitations of a human being,IE food/drink needing to be consumed to live-this could be seen by the lack of interest she had in food in 'LnL'. This to me helps tie into, and underscores the fact she is so disconnected to what she perceives is real. people are beings with senses tied to the physical, and thus define reality as what we can perceive and experience- cut off enough of these perceptions or means of experiencing things and our grasp on what is or isn't real falters. Her powers as a consequence cause her to thus question the validity of the reality she currently resides in as she experiences it so differently from others. What I would agree to is that she needed direction after she went EVO and summarily became so disconnected to events and people and essentially purposeless, which is what Van Kleiss offered rather than support. But, that need for direction has to of ended now,as she actively rejected Van kleiss' direction twice now, both times in favor of Rex. To go back to Van Kleiss now when he is essentially no threat and has no leverage, emotionally or physically, over her doesn't make a lot of sense to me.
And one last side Note- While she was an antagonist to Rex and providence and she has really, really poor social skills, obsessive compulsions and a penchant for creeping Rex out, i don't really get the evil vibe off her or really any of the pack except Van Kleiss. Out of all of the pack she had the ability to actually 'slaughter' providence and essentially every one close to Rex multiple time, 'Hard Target' proved her portals can be projected through solid matter, and everything and everyone consists of matter, and she has on multiple times tagged providence agents, Including Six himself, and all that ever happend to them was at worst being transported conveniently to the surface of another place some where on the globe that is quite safe IE not the bottom of the Atlantic ocean, totally unharmed(in fact she always projects human sized portals when fighting people, that are amply sized to accommodate arms and legs, rather than smaller, more numerous, more lethal portals). This to me suggest conscious effort on her part not to kill or maim, and that her first instincts are not malicious. She's Definitely unhinged but not psychotically so.
Hmm, sorry for wall'o'text just been thinking about this alittle too much.

Breach is not the most mentally stable of characters. As such many of her actions are unreasonable. However the reason for her saving Van Kleiss may be hinted at in Lions and Lambs. When Rex and VK confront each other and Breach has to make a choice one of the things she says is "My two favorites". In that episode Rex's kindnesses won her over but VK was obviously still on her list of favorite people. In Assault on Abysus it showed the Pack definitely had some interesting dynamics going on. So a loyalty to her old colleagues-and therefore VK-could also be a factor. There's a number of reasons for her return to the role of escape hatch. For all we know she could have been swayed by his (now deceased) beard. Above all we must remember that Breach=Crazy. It's an amazing insanity, but insanity none the less.

That makes sense, we can't really assume how her mind works because she is insane, and thus none of the reasonable conclusions we can make really stick. Hmm, but the problem I've got is that her insanity, seems to jump about all over the place in terms of scope, scale and and even presence. I mean just compare 'Hard Target' Breach to 'Lions and Lambs' Breach. In HT we've a lucid, slightly immature member of the pack with her own agenda to save her skin, in LnL we have her talking in riddles and an utter disbelieve of reality. This kind of inconsistency, well i don't know much about how the mind works or the science of fixing it, but my assumption is as its a science there are constants, and observable symptoms to the cases of insanity documented which are consistent to a type. This lack of consistency to her case makes her really interesting but very hard to figure out.

If we knew more about Breach before she was EVO, maybe we could make more sense of her.
But what we do know is that she is a very insecure individual. She takes people and things that she likes and puts them in that mini dimension to amuse her. She does not see people as people. To her they are toys or objects.
She also has very little control over her life, so when Rex messes up her dimension- the only place she has control over- she goes nuts.
I also think her crazy talk is like self defence. When Holiday has her captured, she talks like that until Rex ruins her things, and then she's screaming like an insecure child.
Then there's VK. He treats her like dirt, uses her and puts her through experiments that cause her pain. But Breach counters this by saying it's 'not real' as a way to cope.
VK admits that Breach knows she is being used. So why does she stay with him and 'rescue' him during end game? I think that's because VK is all Breach has; and even though he hurts her, she has to go back to him and deludes herself by thinking it's not real to rationalize that choice.
VK has been shown to pretend to care when he wants to use someone, so it's fair to assume he was faking kindness to Breach at one point to get her to join him.

Poor Breach. She got the short end of the stick in every way, really. And her saving Van Kleiss negates the insane badassery of her stalking him throughout time itself. That's a huge loss.
Oh, and since this is the Brex thread, I'd like to just say that I'm still shipping them. In my mind. Because token girlfriend Circe won out after many absences in between showing up.

Atta boy, Demon! And, there's gonna be a sequel series (obviously). There's still hope! ^_^ I personally think that Breach may have plans for Kleiss. This isn't just her dependence on him returning. She has something in mind for him, Biowulf, and Skally. I can feel it!
