Hey guys! Ever read a book series or watch a series of TV shows or movies that start out well but start to drag on as the writer REFUSES to end it? This thread is dedicated to what should have ended and when they should have been given the ax.
BOOKS:
Warriors - The Darkest Hour
I LOVED the Warriors series as a kid. I went through a phase where I was Sunstripe, Deputy of RiverClan. I gave all of my friends Warrior names and it was awesome! Then, Erin Hunter decided to make a second series, Warriors: The New Prophecy. Then, she made Warriors: The Power of Three. THEN, she made Warriors: The Fourth Apprentice. The first series was good with memorable characters, an interesting and believable plot, and a satisfying end. Now, the series is all about love triangles, godlike powers, and repetitive fights over territory, not to mention the various mangas. In my mind, Warriors has only one series and six books, ending in The Darkest Hour.
Maximum Ride - Saving the World and Other Extreme Sports
When it comes to Sci-Fi, this is the series to read...as long as you STOP at book 3. This series is about a group of genetically modified avian-human hybrid kids. They're trying to escape the lab that made them while discovering secrets about their past. It's action-packed and sure to keep you on the edge of your seat. Then, Patterson decided to make more books. The focus has shifted from epic fight scenes, edgy plotlines, and witty characters to romance and saving the environment. WOW! HOW ORIGINAL! (Not) Max has become a love-obsessed wuss, Fang is no better, Angel is a brat, Nudge is annoying, and we never see Iggy or Gazzy. WHY, James Patterson?! WHY?!
The Mortal Instruments - City of Glass
This one is still in pending, but I have a feeling that I'm gonna hate this series if I keep reading. Again, the trilogy of City of Bones, City of Ashes, and City of Glass held a great story and a satisfying ending. Now, City of Fallen Angels has been released and...well... I'm a little worried. Jace is becoming a bit of a wuss and Clary is starting to succumb to Bella syndrome. I won't give a definite ax yet. I'll give Cassandra Clare one more book to convince me...
Guardians of Ga'Hoole - The Burning
This is an AWESOME series. Don't bother with the movie. It sucked. However, after the war was won in The Burning, the story went on to tell of Nyroc, son of the deceased villain, and his journey to Ga'Hoole. The logic begins to falter and the storyline suffers greatly.
TV SHOWS:
Ben 10 - Ben 10 Alien Force
See my rant...
Scooby-Doo - A Pup Named Scooby-Doo
See my OTHER rant.
Pokemon - The Hoenn region
I grew up watching Pokemon. It all started going downhill when they replaced Misty. Still, I liked May and Max and was able to keep going. Then Dawn came along and made me hate the show. By this point, the plotline became repetitive and boring. I'll probably rant on this later. Now, apparently, there's ANOTHER girl and NO Brock. Even the Pokemon themselves suck at this point. I've given up completely...
Sesame Street - Unknown
I was shocked the other day when I turned on the TV. On a whim, I decided to watch Sesame Street. *sniff* The majority of it is computer animated now. That's right, folks! There are hardly any Muppets! And now they have some monster named Murrey as the main character... WHERE'S BIG BIRD?!?!?! I don't know when this abominable development started, only that my childhood has been shattered.
MOVIES:
Disney Movies - AFTER THE FIRST
This goes for almost any Disney film. The original films were good. The sequels sucked. It's that simple. Here are some examples: In Mulan II, Mushu becomes annoying. In Cinderella II, there really wasn't any plot. In The Hunchback of Notre Dame II...I couldn't bring myself to watch. I don't wanna ruin my favorite Disney movie...
Indiana Jones - The Last Crusade
Indiana Jones and the Crystal Skull is about aliens... Do I even NEED to give a reason why this is wrong?!
So, those are a few from me. Let's hear from you!
