I always thought it was more of genetic thing too, like most people developed a mutation after the explosion to make themselves curable, but some people didn't develope the mutation and die off. Like the black plauge.

I always pictured Holiday as the younger sibling. Or twins. Just because in Lockdown Holi's sis kept the people like babies so I assumed she had a backstory, a family, maybe a kid, and that maternal part of her brain wants to collect people to be her babies. And in spider ways that involves eating their heads... But anyway I always saw Holiday trying to bring her sister back to human-ness as repayment for being there while she grew up or for someone other than herself. Thats why she is always depressed after going down to the Hole because she hates seeing her older sister and role model in that condition.
