Black Vs. White actually cemented for me that he's still batting for the right side...in his own quirky, yet highly rational way :-)

I'd say neither. There is no good or evil in his mind, only forward progress and halted progress. Whatever it takes to ensure forward progress is what he will do. If it means staying with Providence to keep working on the nanite project, he will.

I'm going to jump in here and say that he is clearly a mad scientist. He's trying to save the world but how many crazed scientists say they have the best intentions. I don't think he is evil. I think he's trying to correct a mistake he made.

When he had the goatee I thought he was evil but Rex didn't like it so he shaved it off making me think that he still cared in his own way then Black Vs. White reinforced my thoughts that he still cared, but there's still room for him to turn around and sit in the grey area, not good, not bad just Caesar.

** Post contains spoilers for "Black and White", please skip if you haven't seen it and don't want to be spoiled. **
Morality isn't about "black" and "white" or "good" and "evil", it's nothing more or less than countless shades of grey. Cesar has done some things in his life that could be seen as morally wrong -- releasing the Nanites, attempting to mind control his brother, etc -- but at his core, he is a good person. Releasing the Nanites scattered the Metas across the planet and prevented the Consortium from getting them. We don't exactly know why he was trying to mind control Rex other than Black Knight told him to, but I'm more than willing to bet that'll get cleared up as time goes on. Cesar occupies a part of the morality scale similar to a couple of other characters (White Knight in particular); he's done some questionable things in his life, but he's not inherently a bad person because of it. Do good intentions really justify the bad actions? Maybe, maybe not, it really depends on how you look at it.

I think I'd side most with Purple Cat...
Caesar's ambition is his only evil trait, I think. That theme kind of repeats itself in every episode he's in.
Reminds me a bit of some Shakespear..
"The noble Brutus Hath told you Caesar was ambitious: If it were so, it was a grievous fault, And grievously hath Caesar answer'd it."
