Before I even begin, I want to say that this has nothing to do with my obsession with Brex. I would be saying these words even if Brex wasn't my OTP. Keep that in mind.
The Circe/Rex relationship is completely unbelievable, hackneyed, and boring.
It's honestly a pity because Circex is what first got me hooked on the show. I really liked Circe as a character. I liked her looks, her powers, and the Romeo/Juliet appeal of her potential relationship with Rex. I was totally excited.
When she came back in Leader of the Pack, I liked the tension between her and Rex. The looks they exchanged were really heartfelt and held the promise of a developing relationship.
...EIGHT EPISODES WITHOUT MENTION OF HER LATER, she calls Rex to trick him into bringing Van Kleiss back. There's some tension, which I am able to buy considering their absence from each other combined with their opposing sides.
Five episodes later, she sees the light and leaves the Pack.
Let's take a quick tally: Circe has been in a total of four episodes. During this time, she met Rex, joined the Pack, used Rex, left Rex, redeemed herself, and left the Pack. This is reminding me of a certain lack of plot involving Noah's position as a spy for White...
Ten episodes later (again, without any mention of Circe), we see her in Hong Kong and in a perceived relationship with Sqwydd. Okay. I can buy that. They've been hanging out on a day-to-day basis, are in contact, and seem to enjoy each other's company. Unlike Circe and Rex, Circe and Sqwydd have spent an extended amount of time together instead of a bunch of drama-filled moments. The episode ends with a nod toward Sqwydd/Circe.
SIXTEEN FREAKING EPISODES LATER, she swoops in, has some admittedly awesome moments, and does a slow-motion kiss with Rex before being collared.
......GAH! This had SO MUCH POTENTIAL! If she had made more appearances, I totally would have been on board with Circex. If we had seen more interaction, it would have been perfect. Heck, I would have been able to buy it if they HADN'T kissed in this episode.
It just seemed too fast. If Rex rescued her later on, did some missions with her, defeated Providence, and THEN kissed her, that would be awesome.
It's like the writers thought: "Whoops! We forgot to add Circe in again. Let's put a bunch of drama and over-the-top cliches into this next episode with her so the viewers don't forget that we want her to be Rex's girlfriend. Let's add some slow-mo here, some emo-stares there, and some angst here. Perfect! The kiddies will totally buy it!"
GRAWR! Come on, writing staff! Give your viewers SOME respect!!!!!
...Okay, I'm good. I consider this one of GR's biggest Cop-Outs. (See my Cop-Out thread for more details...) What a disappointment...

Honestly, I do think this needed more development. The kiss felt like it was thrown together at the end as a cliche. I love them interacting, and its kind of sad that they only got to do it for one episode.

That kiss scene would have been GREAT if you had given us more buildup! GAH!

Another thing that ticks me off is this: This relationship lacks something. What is it, you might ask? It's FUN!
You know, fun! Two people who like each other should have some fun together, right? How many times have we seen them have fun? There's when they first met, Hong Kong.......and that's all! Now, let's see how many times they've had fun WITHOUT tangible awkwardness? *erases Hong Kong*
Yeah. EVERY moment between those two is filled with nothing but angst, tension, awkwardness, and drama. That's not a relationship! That's a soap opera. No, not even that. It's a soap opera COMMERCIAL!

Probably because you'd have to cut bobo six holiday or white down to fit her in. No offence but i was calling for bobo for a while but he tends to get bumped for one off character we dont see again.

Yeah. EVERY moment between those two is filled with nothing but angst, tension, awkwardness, and drama. That's not a relationship! That's a soap opera. No, not even that. It's a soap opera COMMERCIAL! The hilarious thing is to me is that it sounds like exactly like typical teen romances. XDD "Oh, I like her, but does she like me?!" "He likes me, but I don't know... I have to test him!!" And then games persist. The girl angsts. The boy angsts. Rinse and repeat. You say it's not very realistic but in the way they keep dramatizing each other kind of is pretty realistic in the scope of teenage love. You know everything is a big deal when you're a teen. Hormones and stuff, throw it in with a world falling apart and being an EVO, wanting to connect to someone like you, and you're gonna have an angsty situation with a romantic partner who is similar to you. You're right about it being a relationship lacking fun, and I think that their personalities are just so drastically different. Rex is just all FUN FUN FUN, and Circe is noticeably on a lower frequency than that. XD I honestly think that Sqwydd is a better complement to her, because they both seem like on the same level, and from Hard Target, they're pretty comfortable with each other and they're on a similar wavelength, I think. I think it's trying to make it seem like Rex is a savior for Circe, to save her from everything, even from her dark angsty self, and while that's good and interesting from Rex's end, it produces a real weak character in Circe, which is a shame. But, not every character in a show can be strong or kickass otherwise we'd end up seeing the same kind of character over and over again. But, I think that's the kind of direction that's the storyline is trying to go in. Circe brings in the complication of a normal and tumultuous teenage romance, and, if we look at from a point of view of Biblical references, she is a sheep in Rex's flock that he had rescued and is still rescuing. XD; I even wonder if there could be a possible connection made between her and Rex as Mary Magdalene and Jesus, or if that is just reading too far. XD;;; But, they're trying to handle her to make her more significant, but I feel like the only real shortcoming of this show is how they're handling her character. I don't really like the kind of character that Circe embodies. She seems cliche and ill-put together initially, but I know that she can be handled well to develop, but the problem seems that she hasn't really been handled well. She does seem sprinkled in here and there, and I feel like the show is expecting us to fill in any supposed feelings and developments in the gaps when she does show back up on screen after a long break. :/ I feel kind of weary seeing the episode summary with the next episode with her in it, because it kind of seems that we're just going to suddenly have BAM SUDDENLY WE'RE DEVELOPING HER CHARACTER LOOK, and- I don't know, it just seems like it's going to be rushed or awkward and out of place when it'd have been better to see her bit by bit, even by just passing mentions so it just wouldn't be so weird that she still has significance in Rex's life after being absent for so long. XD;

:Reminincing about episode three: I only got the tail end of it when I first saw the episode and I went "Aw, he has a love interest! <3," but then I watched it online and saw how they went about introducing them, and their relationship I got turned off by the relationship. TOO FAST! But Solora Goldsun is right. Maybe that's what they wanted out of the relationship--a soap opera. I hate soap operas. This is why I avoided dating in high school and middle school among other personal thing...well, I wasn't a hot mess like I am now, but whatever. It's like what a typology website thread title is--"Dating Sucks." During Jr. High/High School, romance sucks! XD Love ya, Wally West but not interested in soaps.

Hey guys! Guess who WASN'T EVEN MENTIONED IN PASSING during this most recent episode? Who is it? Circe of course!
You know, you would think that, between Rex and the Rabble gang, her name would have at least been mentioned. No Sqwydd expressing concern at the beginning while they're waiting in the sewers? No Rex telling them the news? Nothing? Of course nothing...
GAH! I am now completely sure that these people are doing everything they can to make Circex as unrealistic and half-a$$ed as possible.

Agreed. It's kind of sad really, because I find myself far more interested in Six and Holiday's relationship and not any of Rex's. XD Circe has always just been kinda -meh- to me. Plus she's a bit of a tease and they've had moments where she tells Rex to back off and then acts like there's something there and I know that it's because of them being on different sides or their past or whatever, but it's just annoying to watch. I had honestly given up on thinking about Circe until Assault on Abysus.

Well, lookie here! NINE EPISODES LATER and AT THE VERY END with NO PLOT CONTRIBUTIONS, we finally see the little trophy girl again. >_< GAH!!!!!
So, in a SIXTY EPISODE SERIES, not counting Mind Games, Circe has appeared a total of SEVEN EPISODES. SWEET MOTHER OF NANITES, MOA!
