Surely Van Kleiss isn't THAT BAD.
Yes I know he is the bad guy and all but there has to be some good in him or else why would the Pack fallow him?
I mean they don't seem stupid (except for one very special lizard), and they clearly aren't there because they fear his power because they would have just left when he died.
Soooooo... They must see something in him. (More than power.)

He's a charmer and good at inspiring loyalty in his minions. Then again so are most of the batman villains.
He just doesn't ring that "he could be a hero if not for X" bell you get from Doctor Doom or Magneto.
