Today is the Philippines' official Independence Day! And now I will tell you guys some history on all this...
The first Indepence Day was held in Kawit, Cavite on June 12, 1898. It was held official by the first Philippine president, Emilio Aguinaldo. It was also the first time the official Philippine flag was waved and the first time our national anthem (Lupang Hinirang) was ever sung.
However, when the Americans came to our country after we were bought for $20,000,00, our original Independence Day seemed to have been scrapped (it's all history, okay? But, whoever said I perfected Social Science?). Ever since, our actual Independence Day was held on July 4, 1940 (I think, I'm sorry I forgot).
But then during the term of Diosdado Macapagal, in honor of Emilio Aguinaldo, he announced that Independence Day be held on June 12 instead.
And it's been that way ever since...
(Today is also my classmate's birthday! Happy Birthday Mikee!!)

Well happy Independence Day, Awesome! That's very interesting...I never knew about that... *is an ignorant American* It's odd how we Americans only really go into detail on our own history in school... Heh... And happy B-Day to your friend! ^_^
