I want to think that Gabriel Rylander is Noah's dad. The fact that they have biblical names started my suspicion and then I saw the physical similarities and the hairstyles. And I kinda hoped Noah was Rex's long long brother by adoption.

If Dr. Rylander was the dad, that would explain one missing parent, connections to Providence and ultimately to Rex, and seemingly well-off financial means.

I was going to say something about that even though White signs his paycheck, all the "Work" is done for Rex....so doesn't that make REX his suggar daddy or is White just Noah's pimp?

But since Noah is under age, his duties amount to hanging out with Rex and baking MANY, MANY COOKIES for all the Providence agents XD

Oh my god. All the tinhatting in here is impressive. xD I'm brand new and already this place feels like home.

I suspect that Noah's parent/s went EVO, and Providence went to help and found out about him right around when White decided Rex needed a babysitter his own age. Noah was convenient and vulnerable. He needed the money; poor thing is obsessed with scholarships and making ends meet. And he had no one around worrying it would be dangerous for him. No one counseling him not to become a mercenary friend even though he clearly had moral issues with it. No guidance whatsoever.

If his parent/s went EVO, it might even explain why he's a social outcast. It seemed like he was already unpopular before Providence hired him; the kids at his school view EVOs as a source of contagion, so of course if his family went boom, he'd be ostracized.

I have a bunch of theories (which I listed), but my main ones are 1- THIS or 2- Rylander is his dad (but I'm starting to doubt that one).

The Rylander theory never occurred to me; it's actually a fascinating possibility. Suppose Noah's mother went EVO (or was already out of the picture) and Rylander appealed to Providence to keep track of his son for him. I'm not sure how it would all happen, but wouldn't it be just like White to keep a former nanite researcher's kid in his back pocket in case Providence ever needed a teenage boy for something?

I could be mixing stuff up, though, as I'm not very good at remembering details. >_>

If Rylander was Noah's father that would explain why Providence hired him to look after Rex. I have often wondered, and we have posts here where other people have as well *doesn't want to go dig through and look* But how the heck does a 'typical' teenage boy end up with Providence knocking on his door?

Yeah, but even if Noah had some sort of important connection like being Rylander's son, would that be enough to qualify him to keep an eye on Rex? With all the things that Rex gets into, Noah would have to be pretty special than just sort of some interesting extra. I think he's more tough than he thinks he is, but Providence is actually fully aware of it...

I wonder if Rex ever was curious about it? You think as his friend, he might wonder.

I'm kind of getting this image of a white van rolling up next to Noah and some guy saying behind a tinted window saying "Hey, kid. Wanna join Providence? I got a communicator in the back that'll get you connected right away..."
